“This is not a protest, it’s a revolution.”
In September 2022, the Iranian government shut down the internet and blocked social media sites to prevent Iranian people from sharing their experiences of brutal government violence and oppression. In response, we launched our inaugural project - a billboard media campaign designed to be media-worthy and raise visibility and awareness around the Woman, Life, Freedom movement in Iran.
This multi-pronged campaign generated over 136-media activations, tens-of-millions of views, and was the backdrop to protests and solidarity rallies in Times Square, NYC, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and other locations. Most urgently, the billboard campaign served to boost morale of the young people in Iran, who saw that the world stood in solidarity in their fight against injustice, and also caught the attention of News media to cover the growing movement. This campaign was powered by a grassroots team of volunteers, and funded through generous crowdsourced donations through GoFundMe, whose executive team certified, vetted, and oversaw due-diligence and compliance of the campaign and use of funds.
